The Kitchen

How to Master The Kitchen

Stove:

  • Our Italian cooktop is very particular.
  • To light a burner
  • Turn the switch to the big flame while holding it down.
  • When it ignites, keep holding it down and turn it to the small flame.
  • Then you can release and adjust the heat.

Fridges:

  • To go with the low-profile look of the kitchen, the fridges are under the counter.
  • We also keep a regular fridge-freezer in the closet across from the powder room.
  • You’ll find a separate ice machine next to the dishwasher.

Ice Machine:

  • Located to the left of the dishwasher
  • 3 Settings that are controlled by one switch on outside of the ice maker near the floor on the bottom left of the appliance.
  • The Settings: Ice, Off, Wash.  To make ice make sure the switch is pressed firmly in on the ICE setting.  If you arrive and you find the ice machine is already in the Ice setting but you see no ice in the unit AND you do not hear it running - Then the best practice is to firmly press "OFF" wait a few seconds to a minute... Then firmly press "ICE."  Give it a few minutes and you should hear the appliance kick on.  It will then start making ice.  See the ice maker how to video by going to the How To Video page or clicking the how to videos link at the footer of any page on this site.

Oven:

  • The Oven is in Celsius not Fareheneit.
  • If Fahrenheit is 32 degrees then Celsius is 0 degrees.  Add 32 degrees to every degree of celsius to get your Fareneheit degrees.   OR
  • Go here https://www.rapidtables.com/convert/temperature/celsius-to-fahrenheit.html

The Sink Faucet

  • Its cool.  Its not very tricky but it got me once and I was vexed for 2 days straight. I created a video to explain why the shower like attachment might be stuck to the on position.  Check it out in the "how to video" section if you too are vexed.
